Indonesian Government's Efforts in Reducing Poverty

One of the fundamental problems in the social and economy of Indonesia is facing the problem of poverty that continues to hit this country. Poverty is a economic and social phenomena are complex, diverse and dynamic. Every person, people, statesmen, professional, expert and scientific disciplines tend to view the problem of poverty from different perspectives. As a result, definitions of poverty have always evolved over time. And poverty in this country has become a symbol of real social and insoluble. Since the colonial period until today. Poverty seemed difficult to escape the nation's abundant natural wealth potential and even the very famous. Sad story of poverty as if more fully with the occurrence of various natural calamities and man-made disasters: earthquakes, tsunamis, Lapindo hot mud, and forest fires that followed smog. Poverty in this country were increasingly spread like a malignant virus, which attacks ranging from rural communities, urban, unemployment up to fishermen
Prior to 1993, the New Order government, when it was experiencing the euphoria of debt-based economic progress, always trying to highlight the outcome - the result of development. At that time the New Order government was successful in establishing economic structures that visually appear grand, solid, beautiful, but actually very porous. New Order era, the government mobilize various means and ways to overcome poverty. Physical development continues to be done in various fields, the focus of attention of economic growth, foreign investment is encouraged, various types of loan scheme small investment and working capital loans held, and even foreign debt was taken as alternatives to support the idea of progress is called development. Yet all that come falling out swept the global economic and political crisis that accompanied the fall of the New Order government in 1998. Although the government continues to change, poverty still continues to be a virus that attacks the life of the people in this country.
Both these approaches have some inherent weakness, :
1. Not open opportunities for the voice and aspirations of the poor.
2. Implementation technique of poverty reduction is still less than optimal. This means that poor people become the object of a project activity that is actually only able to answer the problem in the short term.
3. It has no sensitivity to the diversity of the region or sector context
4. Poor people only made the object of political interest
5. Do not touch the root of the problem of poverty.
